Ireland’s First SDN Symposium to Explore SDN’s Potential within the Country
DUBLIN, Ireland, May 19, 2014 – The Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN), today announced it will co-host Open Tech Ireland: An SDN Gathering along with IDA Ireland. This event is Ireland’s first Open Tech symposium focusing on SDN, and it offers a significant opportunity for the nation’s software companies to leverage SDN development capabilities and resources.
“The global SDN movement has made significant strides in recent years,” said Dan Pitt, executive director of the Open Networking Foundation. “The shift from hardware to software represents the biggest change in networking in a generation and will ultimately benefit everyone. ONF has participated in numerous events globally to further propel the SDN movement and we look forward to jumpstarting an innovative SDN community in Ireland.”
In addition to ONF and IDA Ireland, Open Tech Ireland: An SDN Gathering is being presented in cooperation with the Irish Software Association, Intune Networks, KEMP Technologies, and Sanctum Networks. The symposium is designed to be a gathering of international SDN luminaries, Irish companies already on the leading edge of SDN, employees of multinational companies with facilities in Ireland, and energetic entrepreneurs and investors. Attendees will participate in a one-day exchange of ideas and updates, including an event program featuring presentations from network operators, early innovators, and funding sources.
“We are delighted that ONF has decided to host this conference in Dublin,” said Leo Clancy, divisional manager of Information and Communications Technology at IDA Ireland. “SDN is transforming the global technology landscape and will generate huge future economic value and jobs. Ireland is very well placed to play a significant part in this SDN revolution.”
Open Tech Ireland: An SDN Gathering will take place June 30, 2014 at the historic Royal Hospital Kilmainham. The symposium will conclude with a cocktail reception for attendees. For more information on the event, including attendee registration, please visit: www.OpenTechIreland.org
