Today, ONF announced an update to our membership structure to simplify our operations. The ‘Collaborating Innovator’ and ‘Innovator’ tiers of membership are being combined into a single ‘Member’ tier.  While this will have some impact on how we recognize Member companies, there will be no impact on annual fees and this will simplify operations making it easier for companies to work with us.

Understanding Collaborator Status in Relation to Membership

“Collaborator” status with ONF is not a form of membership.  Instead it indicates that a company has aligned technical resources to work towards specific goals within a project in alignment with the project’s leadership.   It was previously the case that establishing Collaborator status on one or more projects converted ‘Innovator’ Members to ‘Collaborating Innovator’ membership status.  With the elimination of the Collaborating Innovator tier, this will no longer be the case.  While this former process provided an additional form of recognition for Members, we came to believe that this added undue complexity to our membership structure.  We hope everyone will appreciate this simplification of our processes.

Thank you for supporting ONF and our important work.  As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.
